Kasbah Aït Benhaddou

Marrakech to Zagora 1 Nights 2 days

DAY 1 : MARRAKECH –OUARZAZATE– ZAGORA

Our driver will pick you up at your hotel or riad in Marrakech for an 8h00 departure.
We will head south crossing many Berber villages. We soon leave the desert valley to reach the chain of the High Atlas where we will drive through the highest pass of the chain, Tizi-n-Tichka at over 2100 meters. In the wintertime, you will most likely see snow on the peaks of the mountains. The lanscapes will change with every turn of the road. We will reach Ouarzazate more or less 90 km after the pass. We will visit the beautiful Taourirt Kasbah that was the home of Pacha Glaoui, an important historical figure of the 19th century. Another 90 km further, we will reach the palmeraie of Agdz in the heart of the Draa Valley. Along the way, we will stop for a nice Moroccan lunch where you will be able to taste the wonderful flavours and spices or the desert cuisine. We will finally reach Zagora where our camels will be waiting us at the end of the paved road. The caravan will head out to reach the bivouac in the desert just in time to witness the sunset. This will offer you amazing photo opportunities. Once we reach the bivouac, the Men of the desert and a warm Moroccan mint tea will welcome you. We will enjoy a homemade dinner and gather around the fire to enjoy an evening of star gazing, music, singing and dancing. We guarantee a unique, once-in-a-lifetime and memorable evening!

DAY 2 : ZAGORA – AIT BENHADDOU – MARRAKECH

We will wake up bright and early for breakfast to make sure we do not miss the amazing sunrise in the Zagora desert. We will ride our camels back to the car. Leaving Zagora behind, we will make our way to the fortified village of Ait Benhaddou, where we will have lunch. UNESCO designated the village and Kasbah as a world heritage site. Many movies were filmed around the village, but the most famous are Russel Crowe’s Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and more recently, Games of Thrones. After visiting the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, we will head back to Marrakech to drop you off at around 18-19h00.
